Eagle Waste Water Treatment Plant

Project Details

  • Delivery Method | General Contractor
  • Year | 2017
  • Location | Eagle, Idaho

Wright Brothers provided Eagle Sewer District with upgrades to their existing wastewater lagoon aeration system including a new blower building, blowers, air distribution piping and submerged aerators. Wright Brothers also provided hydraulic upgrades to the wastewater lagoon treatment system, constructed a bypass line and effluent pump station wet well, and a new transfer structure. Because of recent population growth in Eagle, the Eagle Waste Water Treatment Facility required additional aeration to keep up with the load being produced. All incoming waste needed to be transferred downstream to the Boise Waste Water Treatment Facility during construction and required 24/7 monitoring to ensure proper flows were being maintained.

A challenge that was overcome was protecting the surrounding Boise River and protected wetlands from potential contamination from the wastewater lagoon during improvements. Massive dewatering efforts and bypass pumping took place to perform the work.  On top of this, we were dealing with record high river flows and ground water. The spring of 2017 saw record setting flows in the Boise River which put water level at flood stage just two weeks into Construction and didn’t subside for 16 Weeks. Given the proximity to the River and wetlands, utmost attention was required throughout construction to ensure proper measures were in place to prevent contamination of the Boise River. Dewatering reservoirs were installed to hold water until sediment was at a level that it could be reintroduced into the river system.

This project was a public hard bid and even with the immense amount of underground that left the Wright Brothers team with a list of unknowns the project closed out with less than 5% in change orders.
